When understanding isn't enough

You've done the work. Therapy, journaling, the right habits. You can name the pattern. And something in your body still won't settle.

A tightness that keeps returning. Sleep that won't come. A symptom your doctor can't explain. Noise in your head that talking doesn't quiet. Or the opposite: a place that has gone flat, where you can't feel much at all.

That signal was ignored or shouted over until it jammed: too loud, or on mute. The listening around it stopped.

Most of us swing between numb and flooded and call neither home. What is missing is not more insight. What is missing is the freedom to move across that range without getting stuck.

Soma Speak begins where that recognition lands.

Why talking keeps missing it

Understanding why you react a certain way does not stop the reaction. Knowing where the pattern comes from does not release it from your body. Insight is not the same as integration.

Trauma and stress responses live below language, in the survival brain. The rational mind cannot talk that system out of a pattern it is still holding. That is biology, not a personal failing.

So the ceiling arrives: you've done the cognitive route, and the body is still shouting, or still silent. Waiting longer for the next article, the next habit stack, the next explanation rarely moves what is held in sensation.

When the mind has done its work and the body hasn't caught up - that's where I come in.

What Soma Speak is

Soma Speak is a 60-minute session of body-listening. I track what your body is doing, guide you into direct contact with sensation, and help your nervous system complete what it has been holding. The work is Somatic Experiencing®-informed.

It is not talk therapy. It is not breathwork. It is not coaching. It is not a substitute for medical treatment, psychiatric care, or psychotherapy.

We work with what is alive in your body right now: not by retelling the whole story, but by noticing what arises when you bring awareness to the places that have been trying to get your attention.

In person in Central or Discovery Bay, or online on Google Meet. Same price either way.

Sensation, plus safety

The method is careful and plain. We build enough safety to feel. Then we listen to the raw shape of sensation before a story lands on it: pressure, heat, a knot, a place gone quiet. That whisper is the felt sense. When it goes unheard long enough, the shout arrives as collapse, 3am panic, insomnia, anger that has nowhere to go.

The work is hearing and honouring the signal instead of overriding it. Listen, relate, let it complete, let it move you.

Breath is used to notice, not to perform or force a state. Story is welcome. Sensation leads.

After that plain description, the method has a name: the Art of Attunement. The jammed signal has a name: the Broken Alarm. The destination has a name: the Volume of Being - the freedom to answer your own signal at the volume it calls for.

What becomes possible

  • You leave with a clearer line to your body - so the next time a symptom or a surge shows up, you have somewhere to put your attention besides panic or analysis.
  • You practise staying with sensation in small doses - so your nervous system learns it can move between activation and rest without you forcing a performance.
  • You get a Listening Log entry - in your own words: where sensation lived, what it felt like, what shifted, and what to carry into the week. A tangible record, even from a single hour.
  • You start building capacity, not another override - so life can keep giving you material, and you have more room to process it.

One session is a beginning. A short series of four to six is where many bodies get the repetition to stop getting stuck. You book one session at a time. No packages.

Six phases. Your body sets the pace.

  1. Dropping In - we settle. You orient to your space, your body, your breath. We find a felt sense of safety before we go anywhere.
  2. Opening the Field - you share what's alive today. What brought you. What your body has been doing.
  3. The Wave - the heart of the hour. We follow sensation, moving gently between what feels activated and what feels settled. Small doses. Your nervous system leads.
  4. The Release - the body's own letting go when it is ready. A deep sigh. Warmth spreading. Tears. A yawn. Signs a cycle is completing, not something to perform.
  5. The Gathering - we slow further. Space to settle into what shifted. No rush.
  6. The Seed - you leave with something to carry: a practice, a resource, an awareness, and a thread for next time. We note it in your Listening Log.

The body leads. You do not need to retell everything. You need willingness to notice what is there.

Is this for you

Soma Speak tends to fit if:

  • You have a recurring physical symptom (pain, tension, gut, sleep) you can't get clear answers on
  • You've done a lot of cognitive work and your body is still holding something
  • Your doctor says nothing is wrong, and you still know something is there
  • You've learned that the body stores what the mind can't reach, and you want guided support
  • You're ready for a different route: less more-thinking, more listening
  • You need the hour to travel with you (online) or you want to sit in person in Central or Discovery Bay

You do not need to be in crisis. You do not need a diagnosis. Curiosity and willingness are enough.

This does not replace medical treatment, psychiatric care, or psychotherapy. If you are in active crisis or need clinical mental health support, work with a licensed professional first. Soma Speak is complementary. It addresses the somatic layer other approaches often don't reach.

If you want a hands-on table session, that is a different door: craniosacral therapy in person (the hands are the method). Soma Speak is the Somatic Experiencing®-informed hour that can be in person or online.

How this differs from talk therapy

Talk therapy works with the story and the meaning. Soma Speak works with sensation first. When you start narrating, we come back to what is happening in your body right now: temperature, pressure, movement, a place that has gone quiet.

Insight matters. Integration is different. We don't fight the mind. We work underneath it, in small doses, until something completes.

  • Talk therapy: story and meaning lead.
  • Breathwork (as often practised): breath is used to change state.
  • Coaching: goals and strategy lead.
  • Soma Speak: sensation leads; breath is for noticing; the story is welcome and secondary.

We follow what your body is doing, not the story about it.

My path

I came to this through my own body

I spent years building a well-structured life. Good habits. Meditation. Therapy. I could name my patterns. And my body was still shouting.

Symptoms I couldn't get medical answers for. Tension that wouldn't release. A nervous system that stayed on alert no matter how much I understood about why.

What shifted was somatic work: learning to listen instead of override. I began Somatic Experiencing® sessions alongside craniosacral therapy, and for the first time I felt resolution, not only understanding. That's why I offer Soma Speak.

What the first session is

The first session is sitting with what is loud and what has gone quiet. There is nothing to perform. If I don't think we're a fit, I'll tell you.

The 48-hour cancellation refund above is booking logistics, not a money-back results claim.

Your mission

Should you choose to accept it

Your Mission, should you choose to accept it, is to open a direct line of communication with your body in 6 weeks: so the next time a symptom shows up, instead of panic or confusion, you feel it, you hear it, and you know what it's asking for.

You book one session at a time. The journey builds across sessions. The first hour is where the line opens.
